This qualification is your first step to becoming a Plumber.
The 6129 Course will take 10 weeks to complete and consists of 2
stages. The first stage is an 8 week full time course 8:30am to
4:30pm Monday to Friday, followed by a further 2 weeks of final
assessments and exams.
During the course you will learn Domestic Plumbing. To start
with you do not need any prior plumbing knowledge just basic DIY
skills and the desire and determination to succeed in this
rewarding industry.
Your course will begin with the basics such as cutting and
bending copper tube and take you to a final stage where you will be
confident in installing Bathroom Suites, Hot and Cold water
Systems, Leadworking and Fault diagnosis.
8 Weeks Full Time Plumbing Course
Depending on the center your plumbing course will consist of 8
weeks full time instructor lead training after which you can start
work straight away as either a self employed plumber or work for a
plumbing company.
During the first week of your course you will cover the
following subjects followed by your first exam.
- Health and Safety
- Customer Relations
- Cold Water Supply
- General Plumbing Principles
- Environmental Awareness
- Drainage
- Multiple Choice Exams
- During your plumbing course you will complete a series of
multiple choice exams. Remember that with most of our plumbing
courses you will be ready to work as a plumber in just 8 weeks and
you can also achieve the City and Guilds Level 2 & NVQ Level 2.
Some other providers do not offer these qualifications but cut down
versions or no qualifications at all!

- Most Plumbing Training Courses are an 8 week full time
instructor lead course and covers the City and Guilds 6129 Level 2
Certificate in Basic Plumbing Skills.
- The usual hours of study are 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday
for 8 Consecutive weeks.

50/50.

Each section has practical and multiple choice exams, all
practical assessments are recorded, photographed and signed off by
City & Guilds qualified assessors.
At the end of your course, your completed portfolio together
with the results of your 11 phase tests and final exam, is
submitted to City & Guilds for certification and award for the
City & Guilds 6129 Level 2 Technical Certificate.
Plumbing Course - Instructor Led Training 8 Weeks Full
Time
During the eight week training period, you will be trained from
the basics up to the standard of domestic plumbing as listed below.
All assessments are undertaken by City & Guilds Qualified
Assessors and photographed ready for inclusion into your completed
Portfolio.

- LCS Machine Bending Jointing, Testing.
- LCS Fabrication and Installation
- Maintenance Pillar Tap & Float Valve
- Maintenance Shower Mixer Valve
- Maintenance Radiator Valve

NB. There are more assessments carried out during the 2 weeks
final exams and assessments.
Work experience
After completing the 8 week full time Plumbing Course you should
now seek employment to practice your newly acquired skills. You
will by this time have completed the majority of your 6129 Level 2
and be able to work either as a Self Employed Plumber or for a
Plumbing Firm.
We would suggest a minimum of 3 Months work experience prior to
returning to complete your final 2 weeks of Assessments.
City & Guilds 6129 Final 2 Weeks
Assessments
Your final part of the City & Guilds Level 2 6129 Technical
Certificate is 2 weeks of assessments followed by your final
written exam, the assessments are:-

- Chimney Weathering & Basic Maintenance
- Airing Cupboard Storage Cistern
- Airing Cupboard Hot Water Cylinder
- Bathroom WC Suite

- Bathroom Combi Jig
- Decommissioning Hot & Cold Water System
- Decommissioning Sanitation System
- Any outstanding Phase tests
- City & Guilds 6129 Final 2 Weeks
Assessments
- You will then need to take a final written exam.
- Upon successful completion of this stage including passing of
all assessments and exams, you will have passed your City &
Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Basic plumbing Skills.
